Camilo José Cela is evoked via the spatial design and the architectural allusions. His enlightened personality, his values, and the key characters from ‘Pabellón de Reposo’, which has been used as the main guideline, emerge throughout the entire project. The sombre and masculine use of colours, emphasised by the dialogue between black and white, and the use of materials such as wood and steel, enables users to continuously inhabit and revive the literary spaces of the “Pabellón”.
The asymmetric and sharp edges cut the space dramatically, creating views and pockets. The naked and elegant dining room, emptied from any superfluous decorations, allows for the users to become the characters that interact with the work itself, as in a theatrical space. References to furniture of great architects create a contemporary and timeless space that will
remain forever associated with the significance and importance of education.
